Does anybody else think the following is a travesty?
I’m extremely good at giving people advice on their personal problems, and very dedicated and compassionate, as well. Friends often turn to me for help, and I’ve helped more than one cope with serious difficulties. Yet, before I could start practicing as a clinical psychologist, I would have to go to school for five whole years and take on debt of thousands of dollars at least. What a waste, when I could start practicing effectively right now! I’m extremely well-versed in the Jewish religion and history, and very adept at building community and pastoral counseling. Debt yet to become a pulpit rabbi, I would have to go to school for 4 years and take on thousands of dollars into. What a waste! I’m very skilled at understanding the strategy of high finance and politics. Yet, to get a decent start in either, I need to work for free for a year, OR get a grad degree from a top school that costs $ 75,000 per year. I would end up with thousands of dollars in debt, and uncertain job prospects.
It is not a travesty in my opinion. Your grasp of common sense, which I am certain is better than average, does not preclude you from needing certain training or experience.
Hope this helps. Feel freel to email questions at mike@directyourcareer.com or read my blog at the same address.

Hart… I most certainly think it’s wrong.. In my humble opinion, Education has been turned into somewhat of a religion in this country.. I find it very sad that an individual in this society could be fully capable and qualified for a given position, But yet because he does not have societies recognition of these qualification in that of a piece of paper known as a degree, He is without question eliminated from consideration for that position… Someone who holds views such as I might be asked ” Well would you want to be worked on by a doctor that did not go to school ? I would answer.. As long as that doctor has some how demonstrated that he has the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of a doctor.. What’s the difference if he has a degree or not? .. Also to consider, education has a lot to do with money to.. Anyone that has dealt with schools of higher education know they are like the IRS when it comes to money.. They come after you with a vengeance if your in anyway delayed with your tuition.. And another thing to consider.. Parents are paying big money to colleges for their kids to get a degree so some liberal professor can pump their liberal Ideas of the world down their throat in an attempt to destroy their faith in God ..
Anyways I could go on and on.. But back to the point.. I think it’s very unfortunate the establishments work the way they do.. Unfortunately I think liberalism has so entangled it self into both public and private sectors that it is beyond fixable… And that is very sad state of affairs indeed….. God bless you !!
